The Stereotype of Salvadorans

 The Stereotype of Salvadorans

Many people think that all Salvadorans love pupusas, play soccer all the time, and speak loudly. Some even believe that everyone in El Salvador is involved in gangs.

I think this stereotype exists because pupusas are our national dish, soccer is very popular, and the media often focus on crime instead of showing the real daily life of Salvadorans. Also, in some movies and news reports, El Salvador is often portrayed negatively.

However, this stereotype is wrong. I know many Salvadorans who prefer other foods, enjoy different hobbies, and speak softly. My cousin, who lives in the U.S., says Salvadorans there are hardworking, kind, and have a rich culture beyond what people assume
